Week 9 and in the words of the great Randy Marsh, “ I didn’t hear no bell yet.” So for those 2-6, we keep on keeping on. You might only be 2 games out of a playoff spot right now. Let’s get it.
This week’s theme for the Running Backs is “no I in team.”
Darrell Henderson/Royce Freeman – Green Bay is a nice matchup for opposing running backs. They have given up the 7th most rushing yards per game on the season. With no Matthew Stafford, I can see McVay scheming up some use for both of his backs here. Freeman makes the cut line as borderline flex this week.
Jerome Ford/Kareem Hunt – Arizona is possibly sending out rookie QB Clayton Tune. The Browns defense is legit as can be. Now factor in Arizona ranks 30th against opposing running backs and you catch my drift.
Rachaad White– I think the great Axl Rose said “Take me down to check down city, where the catches are cheap and the offense ain’t pretty.”
D’Onta Foreman/Roschon Johnson – New Orleans is a tough matchup for opposing running backs in regards that you just don’t score against them. It’s a full blown committee approach here and there is just not much to divvy up.
Najee Harris/Jaylen Warren – Tennessee is also stingy against opposing backs and even in plus matchups I’m done using these two.
Alexander Mattison – He might lead the committee but he also was RB55 vs The Packers run defense a week ago. Oof. No bueno. Now add in a rookie QB and 3rd ranked defense vs opposing backs. Starting Mattison will just lead to you eating your kid’s Halloween candy.
Rashee Rice – Rice saw his career-best 61% snap share a week ago on a tough day for the offense overall. Now we get a possible shootout vs Miami as Vegas has this O/U set at 50. Give me Mahomes best WR here who also ranks 12 in RZ targets for all wide receivers.
Jahan Dotson – With Samuel out Dotson has a clear path to added usage. Samuel played only 19% of the snaps and this resulted in Dotson’s highest target total of the season. If Samuel doesn’t go then it’s all aboard the Dotson train.
Nico Collins – You can feel it in the air tonight(ba da ba do ba do bo bo do da). Collins had a tougher matchup last week as the Carolina Panthers game planned them well. 24 pass attempts was a season-low for Houston. This week things should get back to normal as Tampa D is leaky Vs opposing wide receivers. Collins is back as a WR2 this week.
Chris Godwin – Don’t let the matchup worry you. Red zone usage is great and he’s winning every route he runs. He’s a stable floor and you don’t look at matchup and worry.
Hollywood Brown – We can say Cleveland’s defense is great Vs opposing receivers but really it’s one name. Clayton Tune. Not singing this tune this week. (Pun intended)
Christian Watson – His volume has been a WR3 at best. He’s salvaged 2 weeks since he returned in Week 4 with one very long catch and one TD. This offense is just not good right now (waited my whole life to say this). Until we see it break loose, I’m skipping Watson here.
Joshua Palmer – Brutal matchup and he definitely played hurt last week. He was a decoy it seemed after returning. This set up Quinten Johnston to have his best game thus far. He’s a stash again till we know how it shakes out, and if he’s fully healthy.
Dalton Kincaid – Lineup lock with Knox out. Now a juicy matchup against the league’s worst defense against opposing tight ends.
Trey McBride – Matchup sucks and he has a rookie QB. His measurables are off the charts though and in garbage time they probably let him eat up the middle. It won’t be pretty but will be a rooks safety valve.
David Njoku – This might be over fast and then be a heavy dose of run game. Not seeing a 7 target one here and the Cardinals have been decent Vs opposing tight ends.
Dak Prescott – Been up and down this year but Philly ranks 30th vs opposing QBs. It’s another start Dak week.
Sam Howell – We are to the point where you just play Howell probably. 2 duds, but also 5 games over 18 points and finished as a QB1 in 4 of the 8 weeks thus far. His floor sucks but he also has a ceiling others to stream have not hit.
CJ Stroud – 24 pass attempts was a career low last week for Stroud. This week we should see a rebound against the Bucs D. He’s back as a back-end QB1.
Geno Smith – ge-NO, you don’t play him this week. Baltimore is just way too tough Vs opposing QB’s. We have much better streaming options this week.
Mathew Stafford – He hasn’t scored over 16 points this once. He floats in the 10-14 range. Now he has the thumb issue. If he goes it’s a giant pass for me.
Daniel Jones – If you have any excitement he is returning this week, that means your season is probably over and this doesn’t matter.
